Candle Safety & Usage Guide
General Candle Safety
-
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Always extinguish the flame when leaving a room or before going to sleep. -
Keep away from children and pets.
Place candles on a stable, heat-resistant surface out of their reach. -
Avoid drafts.
Keep candles away from vents, open windows, fans, or any areas with strong airflow. Drafts can cause uneven burning, sooting, or flare-ups. -
Trim the wick.
Before each burn, trim the wick to approximately 1/4 inch (6 mm) to ensure a clean, safe flame and prevent excessive soot. -
Burn time limit.
Do not burn candles for more than 4 hours at a time. Allow the candle to cool completely before relighting. -
Proper extinguishing.
Use a candle snuffer or gently blow out the flame. Do not use water to extinguish a candle, as it can cause hot wax to splatter and potentially break the container. -
Container caution.
Glass containers can become hot during use. Allow the container to cool before handling, moving, or placing the lid back on.
Candles with Crystal Embeds
-
Crystal Position.
Crystals may shift as the candle burns and the wax melts. If a crystal moves too close to the wick or flame, extinguish the candle, allow it to cool, and then reposition or remove the crystal. -
Handling Crystals.
Some crystals can retain heat. Always wait until the wax has cooled and solidified before touching or removing them. -
Decorative Use Only.
Crystals are primarily decorative. Please do not place them near open flames outside of the candle, and keep them out of reach of small children and pets.
Candles with Dried Flowers or Wax Flower Embeds
-
Flammable Material.
Dried florals and wax embeds can be flammable if they come into direct contact with the flame. Monitor the candle while burning to ensure petals or embeds are not leaning into the flame. -
Shifting Embeds.
As the wax melts, flower embeds may move. If you see any material drifting too close to the wick, extinguish the candle, allow it to cool, and remove or reposition the item. -
Potential Discoloration.
Natural dried flowers may slightly discolor as they interact with the melted wax and heat. This is normal and will not affect the burn quality.
Additional Tips
- First Burn: Allow the wax to melt across the entire surface during the first burn to help prevent tunneling.
- Storage: Store candles in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Excessive heat or sunlight may fade the flowers, crystals, or fragrances.
- Discontinue Use: When only 1/2 inch (12 mm) of wax remains at the bottom, discontinue burning to prevent potential overheating of the container.
